Canadian companies, and individuals, are eligible for E-1 status with the U.S. State Department based upon the level of trade with the United States. Trade can consist of goods or services.
Since the United States is a major market many Canadian business organizations are now turning to the E-1 visa category as the best way to service customers with key employees documented in E status by the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver. United States consulates in Calgary and Toronto also handle E cases.
Eligibility is established if at least 50% of all international trade is with the United States.
Mangers, supervisors, and essential employees are eligible for a 5 year E-1 visa which allows them to work in the U.S. and facilities easy entry at an airport or land border. New employees can also be granted E-1 status. |
